12:25 pm - Start the Machine first impressions?

No talk of the new Fu, here, yet...

There's a link to an MP3 of new track "Written in Stone" here. It's growing on me. Has anyone heard the rest of the album?

12:48 am - Go For It, LIVE!

I got my GFIL! today and listened to it twice back to back. It's 90 min of kick ass rock n' roll! I'm most impressed with the Mix, the sound is crisp and clear like a studio recording with a devastating bottom end.
It was also cool to see many of the photos in the liner notes came from the July 7 2002 Edmonton show that I was at.
And good to see morbidaj getting no fewer than three mentions in the credits.
Buy this CD, right fucking NOW!

Dude, I just met Fu Manchu (well, a couple hours ago). This was my fourth time seeing them. They are so fucking cool! The show was incredible, but not quite as good as their last Detroit appearance at the Magic Stick (that was one of my favorite shows of the year!). Scott actually said they hated that show (which I can believe, I've played that stage many times, and it always seems like it sucks, but it doesn't). Scott also said that they're going to finish mixing their live album when they get back from this short tour, and it should be released in December. The album includes live tracks from shows in Sweden, Chicago, and somewhere else (can't remember right now). He also said they will be back on tour in December/January to promote it. Whoo hoo! The show was great though. For some reason they were opening for Audiovent, but it was obvious it should've been the other way around. The crowd was clearly there to see Fu Manchu. They played Evil Eye, C.C., Tilt, Weird Beard (yeah!), Asphalt Rising and I'm too excited right now to remember the rest. It was a great set, but too short! I didn't take any photos during the show because apparently it wasn't allowed, and I didn't want to push it. But here's a cool photo of Scott from their other show in Detroit this year:

After the show we hung out on their bus with them and shot the shit. It was a lot of fun. They are really, really nice guys. There are some photos with me and the band and other stuff on my live journal page, if you care to see. Sorry I didn't get any live shots of tonight.

Fu Manchu is coming to the Detroit area on Sept. 6 to play at the Magic Bag with Audiovent (who from what I hear sounds nothing like the Fu). It's an invite only show (not a problem for me) and I think it's sponsored by Jack Daniels. Has anyone else heard of a show like this in your area? I wonder why it's invite only...what's the point?

I was listening to the radio this morn and heard that Fu Manchu will be touring w/ Sevendust and many more bands in "locapoluza" or something of that nature. I didn't catch all the details, so if anyone knows anything about it, I'd appreciate the info.

*waves* Hi. :)

New to this list, but long time fan of all the stoner rock bands. I think Fu may be our chance to actually get this stuff in the mainstream so more people can appreciate the glorious sounds coming from the desert. Hope so, anyway. ;)
Thanks for the info on Brant's new project, too. Can't wait. Know anything about a new Unida release/tour? ;)

This community is becoming a bit deprived, so I've decided to post something, even though i have nothing to say. Hmmm...I guess this is totally off the subject of Fu Manchu, but if anyone's in the Chicagoland area and looking for a banjo player for their band, you should contact me. I know, it's a foolish question, but ehhh...it's worth a try.

Brant Bjork and his new band, Brant Bjork and the Operators, will be releasing their self-titled album on April 30, 2002. Apparently Brant played 90% of the instruments on this album. I've heard it rocks. I'll be getting a promo CD in about three weeks, so I'll let ya know...
